While orchestrating a successful Employer Brand Strategy isn’t a simple task, one thing that is absolutely critical to making it work is the truth. Truth is the foundation for an effective strategy that meets your goals of being a best place to work in the eyes of your employees. To get to the vital truth, we advise you do the following:
Do the heavy lifting. First and foremost, you need to dig deep and find the fundamental truths about your organization. Who (and what) are you? What are your values? What is your promise to prospective and existing employees, and does it align with their values and needs?
Look in the mirror. Ask your management team to courageously look in the mirror and find the truths about the quality of your employer touchpoints; every interaction that your employees have with your organization and how they can be improved.
They can handle the truth. Being clear, honest and truthful with prospective and current employees is essential. Make sure they know what you expect of them and what they’ll get in return for being an integral part of the organization’s success.
Commit and make it stick. Be true to the Employer Brand Strategy plan that you’ve created—not just for a few weeks or months after launch, but on an ongoing basis. Employer Brand Strategy is no flip-of-the-switch solution. It requires ongoing work, monitoring, diligence and refinement.
