May is Mental Health Awareness Month and throughout the month, Alaant will be highlighting and sharing information & helpful resources to promote mental wellness.
While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health. It is an especially important topic to focus on during the current pandemic. The good news is there are practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency - and there are ways that everyone can be supportive of friends, family, and co-workers who are struggling with life’s challenges or their mental health.
Two of the organizations that we are highlighting with great resources are Mental Health America and the Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS).
Mental Health America is promoting its Tools2Thrive campaign for May 2020 and has several resources available. One of the tools they offer is a mental health screening at screening.mhanational.org/. It’s a quick, free, and private way for people to assess their mental health and recognize signs of mental health problems.
The Mental Health Association in New York State (MHANYS) is a community organization that strives to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities by raising mental health awareness, ending stigma and discrimination, and promoting wellness and recovery. They also have a School Resource & Training Center as well as a Mental Health and Information Center (referral and resource line which is completely anonymous)
We’d like to share two additional handouts that may be helpful in adjusting during this time as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as tips for creating a healthy routine.
