Candidate Potential vs. Meeting All Job Requirements

Alaant’s Miriam Dushane shares more on why many employers are valuing potential, transferable skills, and aptitude over rigid job qualifications.

Recently, we asked in an online poll if anyone had been offered a job without meeting all the initial requirements. 81% said yes!

This is fantastic news, it shows that employers continue to be more open-minded about professional backgrounds, education, and experience. It's important for employers to consider transferable skills and aptitude. Often, a candidate's potential can be more important than strictly meeting all requirements.

Focusing on potential over strict qualifications can open up a larger pool of applicants and build greater loyalty from employees who appreciate the opportunity.
To job seekers: don't hesitate to apply for roles even if you don't meet every single requirement. If you have most of the qualifications, go for it!
