As a Vacation Specialist, I wear many capes
Data superpower - This is a great time when a customer is just starting to look for a vacation, I have the joy of researching different destinations and supplying them with an assortment of itineraries and quotes. Whether it's a journey through Japan, a honeymoon to Italy and Greece, or a first-time cruiser to Alaska, providing this information to them takes time and an open mind to remember that it’s their vacation. I help them sort through all the data online which can be stressful.
Resilient superpower - Sitting on HOLD, many times for hours, even as I am writing this I am sitting on hold with a supplier, 38 minutes and counting. There are many reasons I need to do this…whether it's flight changes, itinerary changes, or requesting a refund for a customer, I do this so you can go on with your life.
24/7 superpower - Flight changes, delays, resort errors can happen at any hour, and I am there to help. Recently, I was assisting travelers at 4 am due to delayed flights into Miami and today I am working on refunds and credits for them. When something goes wrong, time does not matter, I am a call or text away.
When I started my business I knew that I would be leaving the non-profit sector where I had been for 25 years, but I also knew that this would still be my heart and soul…It was important to me to ensure that this business had heart and soul to it, that it was not about the bottom line, that people, our customers, would become regulars, repeat travelers, connections, and friends. This is why I sit on hold for you, answer my phone at 4 am…it’s your vacation, big or small and you deserve to have someone that cares.
What is the best part of all this for me…seeing all those awesome pics that my customers send over, their faces full of smiles, their excitement is over the top and they are having the time of their lives – These make me feel like a Superhero!
