What's the best advice a mentor ever gave you?
One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received came from a friend and mentor of mine, Stephen Cope. Stephen is the founder and director of Kripalu's Institute for Extraordinary Living. Stephen specializes in Far East ancient literature. Stephen has written many books, but the one that impacted me is called "The Great Work of Your Life."
Within this book, Stephen describes the battlefield of life and provides three keys to living an extraordinary life.
- Find your dharma (passion).
- Go all-in on that dharma.
- Let go of the outcome.
How could something so simple impact me so profoundly? The wisdom of “letting go of the outcome” has enabled me to stop pressing and allows the meaningful work we do to unwind at a natural pace. Letting go of the outcome reduces my stress and anxiousness, clears my mind, and provides a clear pathway for thought and action.
If you are squarely in your dharma and you have gone "all in," I would recommend diving into The Great Work of Your Life.
